What it’s good for
Suno makes a full song from a short text prompt, with music, vocals and lyrics. You can write your own lyrics or let it write them.
What changed in Sep 2026
Suno released v6 on Sep 9, 2026. Free accounts get v6-mini. The full v6 and v6-wild models need Pro or Premier.
Suno also changed its terms and download rules on Sep 3, 2026. Pro gets 20 downloads a month and Premier gets 60. The free plan has no monthly downloads, just a few trial ones at most, and those can’t be used commercially. You can still play and share all your songs on Suno for free.
If you plan to use a song somewhere, read Suno’s download FAQ first.
Who it’s for
Hobbyists, people making a song for a birthday or a joke, and creators who want background music for videos.
Watch out for
- Free songs can’t be used commercially, and the free plan has no monthly downloads.
- Don’t try to copy a real singer or a famous song. Read Suno’s terms on what you can use.
- If music is going into paid work, check the license on the plan you’re on.
How it compares
It’s the only music tool on my list. ElevenLabs is for spoken voice, not songs. My workspace has a Make a song workflow.
Before you pay
Pro is $8/mo billed yearly and comes with 20 downloads a month. Make a few songs on the free plan first to see if you like the results.
How I wrote this: plan and price details come from the official pricing page (checked Oct 20, 2026). The rest is my own take from reading the official pages, not a lab test. How I review
