What it’s good for
Perplexity searches the web and writes you an answer with links to the sources it used. That makes it easy to see where a claim came from.
It’s a good replacement for opening ten tabs when you’re trying to learn something.
Who it’s for
Students, researchers and anyone who wants quick answers they can double-check.
Watch out for
- Click the sources. Sometimes the answer says more than the source actually does.
- The free plan has limited weekly usage on deeper Pro searches.
- Pro is $17/mo when billed annually. Check the monthly price on their page if you don’t want a yearly plan.
How it compares
ChatGPT and Claude are better for writing. Gemini Notebook is better for questions about your own documents. My workspace has a Research a topic workflow that uses Perplexity.
Before you pay
